Sculptra Aesthetic Dermal Filler Patients – Before & After
Sculptra Aesthetic Dermal Filler works to replace lost collagen in a series of treatments administered by a Sculptra trained physician. On average, three injection sessions of Sculptra Aesthetic Dermal Filler are needed over a period of a few months to produce noticeable results that emerge subtly and can last up to two years.
Treatment considerations for Sculptra Aesthetic Dermal Filler:
- Not for use in the lips.
- Not recommended for use in the periorbital area.
- Safety and effectiveness of Sculptra Aesthetic Dermal Filler have not been evaluated in areas other than the nasolabial wrinkles and folds in clinical trials.

INTENDED USE / INDICATIONS
Sculptra® Aesthetic Dermal Filler is intended for use in people with healthy immune systems as one-time treatment regimen of up to 4 injection sessions that are scheduled about 3 weeks apart for correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles in which deep dermal grid pattern (cross-hatch) injection technique is appropriate. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION FOR SCULPTRA AESTHETIC DERMAL FILLER
You should not use Sculptra Aesthetic Dermal Filler if you are allergic to any ingredient of the product or have a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. It should not be injected while you have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area and should not be injected into the red area of the lip. Use in the skin near the eyes is not recommended.
Side effects of Sculptra Aesthetic Dermal Filler may include injection site discomfort, redness, bruising, bleeding, itching, and swelling. Other side effects may include small lumps under the skin that are sometimes noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Larger lumps, some with delayed onset with or without inflammation or skin discoloration, have also been reported. In a key clinical study the numbers of small and larger lumps were low and most resolved without treatment.
Sculptra Aesthetic Dermal Filler should be injected into the deep dermis and gives the appearance of an immediate correction of the defect. Massage is an important part of post-treatment care. Massage at the injection site will allow for a more even distribution of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA).
Within days, the aqueous components are absorbed and natural swelling resolves, resulting in the temporary reappearance of the defect. But microparticles of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) —the main component of Sculptra Aesthetic Dermal Filler —begin working within the deep dermis to replace lost collagen and reinforce skin structure. As microparticles of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) are absorbed, a collagen framework is provided to gradually restore volume. This results in the smoothing out of shallow to deep nasolabial fold* contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles in which the deep dermal grid pattern (cross hatch) injection technique is appropriate, and which can result in a more refined appearance, that can last up to two years.**
In time, it is theorized that an increase in collagen deposition occurs… correcting structural deficiencies caused by collagen loss and fat atrophy.***
