Getting Wedding Ready to Look Your Best (Within Four Months or Less)!

It’s that time of year. Weddings are in the air! If you’re getting married in the near future, you, of course, want to look and feel your best for what’s considered to be one of the most important days of your life! Or, maybe you’re the mother or the bride or groom, and you too, want to look your best. At DermaTouch RN, we’re here to help with our pre-wedding suggestions that we’ve outlined below. You’ll be able to show up for the big day with your head held high!

More than four months out:

If you still have some time before the big day arises, consider Ultherapy to lift the chin, neck and brow area, while also smoothing the lines on the chest. Ultherapy is a way to lift without going under the knife. This FDA-approved treatment is non-invasive and supports the body in producing and regenerating collagen production through the use of ultrasound. One great thing about Ultherapy is the images that are taken before and after treatment that prove it’s working!

It’s can take two to three months for maximum results to appear, so you want to come in at least four months before the wedding day for a consultation and treatment.

Two to four months out:

Facials and Chemical Peels

We all want that beautiful glow, especially on our wedding day. Facials are great skin treatments to get rid of skin impurities to refine and hydrate the skin. Chemical Peels are a more intense treatment to consider, as well. The appearance of fine lines, acne, rosacea, and overall skin texture and tone can be improved with facials and chemical peels. It often takes a series of facials or peels for maximum results, which is why you want to come in at least two to four months out (four is best) to allow time between each treatment.

Get rid of those fine lines on the forehead and crows feet around the eyes with Botox before the big day. It can take up to a week for Botox to work, and results last four to six months, depending on the patient, areas treated, and the number of units used. You want to allow enough time for touch-ups, so at least a month out is best for Botox.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers like Juvederm and Voluma can help add volume to the face and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, as well as the depth of nasolabial folds. To allow for touch-ups and to get the results you’re looking for over time, you want to have fillers injected at least two to three months out, if not more. It can take more filler than one realizes for desired results, which is also why from a budget perspective, giving yourself more time is helpful.

At DermaTouch RN, we love helping the bride-to-be and mother-of-the-bride (or groom) feel and look their best. Contact us today to schedule a free consultation to put a game plan together to help you prep for your big day. So, when the big day comes, you’ll be able to walk into the room with confidence!

Get a Sharper Neckline without Surgery!

Copyright: dolgachov / 123RF Stock PhotoOne of the top concerns of the individuals who walk through our doors is the appearance of their neckline. Fortunately, there are a number of treatment options one can turn to without going under the knife!

Consider Botox to relax the muscles of the neck.

For many people, relaxing the Masseter Muscle and Platysmal Bands can make a huge difference in the appearance of their neckline. The Masseter Muscle is the muscle that helps you chew. For many, it can be very obvious and protruding. By injecting a few units of Botox into the muscle, it can help to relax it, giving the neckline a smoother appearance. At the same time, the Botox will not inhibit an individual’s ability to chew.

The Platysmal Bands are the bands in the neck that protrude when you clench your teeth. Some individuals have very defined Platysmal Bands, while others don’t. For those that do, many turn to Botox to relax these bands for a sharper neckline.

Kybella is a great solution to melt away fat under the chin.

Kybella is a prescription approved by the FDA to treat moderate to severe submental fat, or “double chin,” that works like deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid naturally occurs in the body to absorb fat. A series of Kybella injections are used to destroy unwanted fat cells under the chin, leaving a smoother appearance.

Ultherapy works to lift and tighten the chin area.

Ultherapy is an ultrasound therapy used to stimulate the deep dermal layer of the skin through small thermal bursts. These bursts stimulate the skin to support the production of collagen, which with time, can tighten and lift the skin. Ultherapy also allows for image capture, so a patient can truly see the difference in the deep layer of their skin over time.

With all of these treatments options, it gives us the ability to develop a plan specific to each individual to target the true concerns of the neckline. One patient might only need Botox, where another might need a combination of any of the above. Results vary based on the patient’s needs and the type and amount of treatment used.

At DermaTouch RN, we take the time to listening to our patients without pushing treatments on them that aren’t necessary. The patient always comes first. Contact us today to schedule a free consultation to determine the best treatment options for your neckline or any of your cosmetic or skin concerns.

Latisse if the first FDA-approved treatment by Allergan to support the growth of eyelashes in people with inadequate or not enough lashes. It was first developed as a glaucoma drug called Lumigan in 2001. Eye doctors and patients noticed that it also helped eyelashes grow longer and lusher with time. It was approved for use on lashes in 2008.

Dana’s Favorite Skin Care Products for Acne Prone Skin

Dana Mendoza, Practice Manager

As we explore some of our top skin care products at DermaTouch RN, we thought it made sense to share the products that some of our employees love to use. After all, they are walking, talking testimonials that our clients get to see every day!

Dana Mendoza, our Practice Manager, shared, “I have acne prone skin, so I use the Obagi Clenziderm acne products and SkinMedica’s Recovery Complex. I love the results!”

So, why does Dana rave about these products? We’ve shared more about them and how they work below.

The OBAGI Medical brand has become a leader in the skin care industry. The high-quality ingredients provide benefits for the skin with results that are visible and last when used as directed.

Per Obagi’s website, the CLENZIderm M.D.™ System is a “three-step acne treatment with clinically proven benzoyl peroxide to help control adult acne for a clearer, healthier-looking complexion.” The system includes a 3-step process:

 1. Daily Care Foaming Cleanser: This cleanser contains 2% salicylic acid that unclogs pores while washing away dead skin cells. Calming menthol is included to help relieve and cool irritated skin.
 2. Pore Therapy: Pore Therapy contains 2% salicylic acid to unclog pores and remove dead skin cells. It preps the skin for the next step in the acne treatment.
 3. Therapeutic Lotion: This lotion contains 5% BPO. It’s a lightweight treatment “uniquely formulated to help clear acne.”

SkinMedica, by Allergan, is another trusted name in the skin care and cosmetic industry.

The TNS Recovery Complex is appropriate for all skin types and has been “clinically shown to reduce the appearance of skin discoloration and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.”

So if you have acne prone skin like Dana, stop in at DermaTouch RN today to see if these products are right for you! While you’re at it, you can check out our other great products. Contact us today for a free consultation.

Chemical Peels for More Youthful Looking Skin at DermaTouch RN

Are you’re looking for clearer, brighter, and more youthful-looking skin? Then chemical peels might be the right skin care option for you.

Chemical peels are an advanced facial treatment that can help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections, lines and wrinkles, age spots, acne, and more. The type of peel will dictate the level and type of results received.

DermaTouch RN Uses names we can trust: SkinMedica & Vi Aesthetics.

At DermaTouch RN, we use SkinMedica Peels and Vi Aesthetics Peels to serve our patients. With SkinMedica and Vi Aesthetics, we can rest assured that our patients will walk away with a more youthful looking appearance when the peels are used as directed.

We use three levels of Chemical Peels.

The Vitalize Peel works well for mild skin imperfections. It increases skin vibrancy and reduces the appearance of roughness, fine lines, and wrinkles with little to no downtime or discomfort.

The Rejuvenize Peel works well for moderate to severe skin perfections. It’s great for smoothing the appearance of roughness, fine lines, and wrinkles with little to no downtime or discomfort.

VI Peel with Precision Plus is a great chemical peel for pigmented skin and sun spots. It helps minimize the appearance of age spots, smooths rough textured skin, and brightens areas of discoloration. As with the SkinMedica peels, there is little to no downtime or discomfort.

How quickly will I see results with chemical peels?

Results can be seen with just one peel. However, for best results, a series of three to six peels is recommended, depending on the patient’s desired results. Results will vary based on the severity and type of skin issues and the number of treatments administered per patient.

Don’t be fooled by unlicensed providers! Safety first!

You want to be sure you’re going to an establishment with a licensed medical professional. SkinMedica only sells their products to licensed medical professionals, and their peels must be administered by a licensed medical professional, which includes physicians or an aesthetician or nurse under a physician’s supervision. The same goes for Vi Aesthetics peel products. If you’re purchasing your peel from an establishment that’s not authorized to use these lines, then move on. Also, several SkinMedica products are being sold illegally online, which you can read more about in our last blog: “Beware of Skincare and Cosmetic Product Fraud!

With more than 10 years of experience, DermaTouch RN is here to meet your cosmetic and skin care needs. Contact us today for a consultation to determine what chemical peel or skin care package is right for you!

Beware of Skin Care & Cosmetic Product Fraud!

In today’s world, fraud seems to be everywhere. From purses and watches being sold on the streets to professional line hair care products being sold in certain department stores to knock off designer label shoes and clothing being sold online, fraud costs people a lot of money. And the skin care industry is no different.

There are several companies that attempt to sell skin care products that only a professional MedSpa or doctor has permission to sale. With products such as professional hair care and skin care products, there’s no guarantee that you’re truly getting the quality that you pay for when buying them from an unauthorized dealer. In addition, there’s no way of knowing if the ingredients are safe if used as directed.

SkinMedica, an effective line that we carry at DermaTouch RN, recently released a list of companies that are using their label online. They shared the following statement in a flier they created, “We value you as a client and only want the best outcome for your skin, which is why we purchase high-quality medical grade products straight from the manufacturer. We also know as consumers that fraudulent products exist in all forms…”

SkinMedica is one line that sells only to physicians, so if there isn’t a licensed physician on board, then the establishment is fraudulently selling SkinMedica products. In other words, if you’re purchasing SkinMedica products online, then there’s no guarantee what you’re getting, as most who sell online are not authorized to sell SkinMedica products (unless it’s an organization with a licensed physician on board).

At DermaTouch RN, we carry SkinMedica, La Bella Donna Makeup, Clarisonic, and Obagi Clenziderm. You can trust that when you purchase these products from our clinic, you’re getting the high-quality skin care and cosmetics with the results you expect.

Your safety comes first. For more information about the list of fraudulent online distributors of SkinMedica products, or to find out what type of skin care we have to meet your needs, contact us at 281.895.9090.
